Tour a New Development and Go on a Hayride
Riverview Landing, a new mixed-use property in Mableton, breaks ground in 2014, but you can enjoy the outdoors there this weekend at their Fall Festival.
In a state that is locked in one battle after another over the use of our land and green spaces, we’ve discovered a mixed-use development that we can get behind. Located along the Chattahoochee River in Cobb County in an area that was well on its way to becoming a dumping ground is the new Riverview Landing community. The Mableton, Ga. development will incorporate single-family homes, apartments and townhomes as well as retail space and common use outdoor facilities like playgrounds and a dock. There will be nature trails, community gardens and access to the river as well.

With Jamestown Properties at the management helm, the groundbreaking is expected to start in 2014 with the first homes on the market in 2015. Jamestown is the company skippering the highly anticipated Ponce City Market. Green Street Properties, one of the nation’s leading firms dedicated to sustainable real estate, will design. They specialize in “green,” LEED certified and mixed-use properties. The homes are expected to start in the low $200s depending on size and amenities. Since an emphasis is placed on the use of the vast outdoor common spaces, yards will be small, but that’s less water to waste. Riverview is expected to have a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, a playground and a dog park.
You can check out the grounds this Saturday, October 12, when the annual Fall Festival takes place. Editorial sidebar: Boy, this looks fun! The event is free, but any donation you’d like to make benefits Chattahoochee NOW, Chattahoochee River Keeper and the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Guests (21 and over) can slug a Sweetwater beer while the wee ones get lost in the corn maze or paint a pumpkin. Later, enjoy the smooth sounds of Yacht Rock Schooner and go on a hayride.
There’s also a VIP reception with cocktails and a low country boil. Tickets for that are $80. For more information, visit Riverview Landing's web site. The property is located at 6269 Riverview Road, SE, Mableton.
