Pro Golfers Are Moving to Palm Beach
If you want a variety of golf courses, golf resorts and golf real estate options, then the Palm Beach area has got your game.
Professional golfers like Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Charl Schwartzel are moving to Palm Beach. And it turns out that luxury real estate sales are soaring in the area.
"Ninety-eight single-family homes sold for more than a million dollars apiece last month, a 53 percent year-over-year surge," the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches told the Palm Beach Post.
Famed golfer Rory McIlroy, who recently signed a deal with Nike reportedly worth $200 million, has money to burn on Florida real estate. McIlroy purchased a luxurious home in Palm Beach Gardens for around $11 million and paid another couple million for a vacant parcel of land next door.
Mcllroy's house is located close to Jack Nicklaus' The Bear Club Golf Course and not too far from Tiger Woods' sprawling estate in Jupiter.
Why do golfers love Palm Beach? Well, it could be the year-round fabulous weather or the access to top golf courses across the county. The area has almost four dozen public golf courses, many designed by the best names in the industry.
Palm Beach County draws both golf aficionados and those looking for a tax break. “If you’re making enough money, the savings can almost pay for the house in a few years,” said Kevin Leonard of the Palm Beach-based Valore Group the Post.
