Million Dollar Homes in Atlanta
If you've got a million-dollar house-hunting budget, you can find a lot to choose from in Atlanta.
If your house-hunting budget is in the million-dollar range, you will find that in Atlanta your real estate dollar can go far. There are plenty of million-dollar homes in the city, some well-worth the cost while others are overpriced. One thing that you will notice is that these homes are definitely not exclusive to a specific part of town, though it might feel like some neighborhoods won't even let you walk in without a credit check. On the contrary, million-dollar homes are dotted all throughout Atlanta and pop up in some of the most surprising places.
We begin our Atlanta search of million-dollar homes in the most obvious of neighborhoods: Buckhead. Here, real estate prices average around $1.3 million. Of course, you can find a home for less than a million, but odds are good that it will be a teardown. If you are really eager to part with some cash, the city's most expensive listing, a gargantuan Mediterranean mansion on West Paces Ferry, is currently priced at $19, 500,000. Take your time; the home has been on the MLS for well over a year. If full-service and amenities like a 24-hour concierge and a doorman are more your style, there is a $10 million luxury penthouse for sale at 2500 Peachtree. Checking in at the Buckhead Grand as well as the Eclipse can set you back a million or two as well.
Brookhaven and Chastain Park are considered the bedroom communities of Buckhead, and you can easily find $1 million homes in these neighborhoods as well.
Just down the road a ways in Ansley Park, home prices hover around the million-dollar mark, though you will also find the occasional $800,000 deal. The entire neighborhood of Ansley Park is a historic district, and the homes reflect as much. While a lot of the construction in Buckhead is new, the homes in Ansley Park date back as far as the 1910s. When buying here, you are paying for a piece of history as well as one of Atlanta's most prestigious addresses. The exclusive Piedmont Driving Club is located on the edge of Ansley Park and has been amusing Atlanta's bluebloods since 1887.
In neighboring Midtown it is not unusual to find a Victorian-style million-dollar home near Piedmont Park, though finding one on the market is rare. Midtown is also home to many new million-dollar high-rise condominiums like 1010 Midtown, Aqua, Spire and Metropolis Midtown.
We've highlighted the obvious neighborhoods for you; occasionally, million-dollar listings will pop up in Grant Park or nearby Decatur as well.
