Live Near LeBron James
Miami's eclectic Coconut Grove, Fla., neighborhood offers a mix of million-dollar mansions and affordable bungalows.
You don’t have to be a millionaire like King James to be his neighbor. The NBA superstar owns a three-story home overlooking the water in Coconut Grove, an eclectic Miami neighborhood located just south of downtown that runs along the Biscayne Bay.
He bought the six-bedroom mansion complete with a wine cellar, library and home theater for $9 million in 2010. Sound a little out of your price range? No worries. The interesting thing about Coconut Grove is that multimillion-dollar mansions sit next to adorable two- and three-bedroom bungalows available for as low as $300K.
Coconut Grove was Miami’s first settlement in the mid-1800s and became known for its creative charm and Bahamian character. With small-village appeal and lush landscaping, today it’s a sophisticated urban neighborhood that attracts everyone from artists to famous athletes.
“The Grove,” as locals call it, is known for its 14 parks, tropical boutiques and restaurants, waterfront property, marinas and boating culture, as well as numerous festivals like The King Mango Strut, Goombay Festival and the Coconut Grove Art Show.
Don’t be surprised if you see a flock of brightly colored peacocks roaming the streets, as they often do!
