Drink Amongst the Dinosaurs at Fernbank Museum
There’s nothing archaic about Atlanta’s hippest tapsters making guest appearances at Martinis & IMAX Fridays.
If you’re anything like us, you get pretty excited at the prospect of enjoying a cocktail in a giant atrium surrounded by dinosaur bones. Add one of Atlanta’s hottest mixologists to the ticket and just try and keep us away. Well, get your drinking legs on because for three Friday nights Fernbank Museum’s Great Hall will be converted into a nightclub of sorts with Martinis and IMAX. We know; we had you at cocktail.

Representing The Spence in Midtown is local martini maestro Trip Sandifer. His spirited concoctions start with the classic cocktail and in a nod to his skipper Richard Blais end with a unique twist. We’re pretty jazzed about trying the “Hemingway Fizz” and washing that down with a “Milk Punch & Cookies.” The Spence is located on 5th Street at Spring.

While it’s not part of the mixologist series, the museum will host a Halloween party in the Great Hall. There will be a DJ and plenty of drinks flowing. Okay, we are quoting the Fernbank website for this one: Costumes encouraged, so come all ye ghouls and goblins and slutty kitties!

If you’ve been to FLIP Burger Boutique you’ve probably had a Krispy Kreme shake (which should be illegal) but have you ever had a “Watermelon Mojito” or an adult milkshake? Let Sarah Abouna show you her shake on this Friday. Her specialty drinks are sure to make your mouth water and but not before you can say, “Thank you, Sarah. May I have another?” FLIP has two locations: One in West Midtown on Howell Mill and another in Buckhead and Piedmont Road and Roswell Road. A third is soon to open in Virginia-Highlands.

South City Kitchen over on Crescent Avenue has been kicking it Old School for over 20 years now and is an Atlanta favorite. In a nod to the mouthwatering Southern cuisine, cocktail creator Kelly Culver has cultivated “new” classics such as the “I-75” and the “Back Porch.” We’re excited to see Culver shake and bake at Fernbank. We’re going to slam down an “Orange Mule” or two and exclaim, “That just happened!” SCK has two locations, the original in Midtown on Crescent and a second location on Cobb Parkway in Vinings, Ga.
In addition to the mixologist creations, Fernbank will also serve the regular full menu of drinks as well as small nosh plates. The $13 ticket gets you into the party and that includes an IMAX movie ticket as well. Skip the movie and your tab starts at $7. See Martinis and IMAX for more details.
