Where Halloween Comes From
It's no trick: These American cities offer some of the true treats of the Halloween season. Find out where glow sticks, sugary sweets and more are made.
Pumpkin Capital of the World
Known as the "Pumpkin Capital of the World," the burg of Morton is deep
in the heart of central Illinois, where America's most prolific pumpkin
patches are rooted. The home of
Libby's Pumpkin, Morton produces about 85 percent of packaged pumpkin in
the U.S., but it's also good for gourds. The Morton Pumpkin Festival is
a huge regional event each fall, complete with "Punkin Chuckin'," where
engineers and other intrepid designers square off to see who can create
the meanest pumpkin-chucking machine.
