Hawaii Island Retreat was modeled after the Iolani Palace, the official residence of King Kalakaua, the last monarch of Hawaii. Like the palace, the hotel was built to symbolize the rich history and culture of Hawaii. A reflective pool sits in front of the porte-cochere, the main entrance to their wellness center. The main building was designed so you can look from the reflective pool through the retreat out to the Pacific Ocean.
