Tour a Circa 1710 Home in Colonial Beach, Va.
Happy Presidents’ Day from your friends at Cool Houses Daily! In honor of George Washington’s birthday, today we’re taking a tour of a circa 1710 home mere miles from where our first president was born.
On Feb. 22, 1732, the country’s first commander-in-chief was born at
Pope’s Creek Estate near present-day Colonial Beach, Va. Now known as
the George Washington Birthplace National Monument, the plantation was
settled by Washington’s great-grandfather in 1657, and the first section
of the house was built before 1718. Meanwhile, this charming home in Colonial Beach was also under
