Charleston, South Carolina Patriots Point

Since it opened to the public in 1976, Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum on the Charleston Harbor has educated more than 270,000 visitors each year about America's naval history. The centerpiece of the museum is the USS Yorktown (pictured), an aircraft carrier used during World War II. Other attractions include a Cold War submarine and the USS Laffey, nicknamed "The Ship That Would Not Die."
