Like the original series, the upcoming revival of Dallas will take place at Southfork Ranch -- with a stylishly updated look. Get a sneak peek at this iconic set's new design. Photos courtesy of Richard Berg
Creating interior sets for the remake of Dallas, one of TV's
most popular dramas that aired from 1978 to 1991, meant blending iconic
memories of Southfork Ranch held by longtime fans with a contemporary feel new viewers will appreciate.
"From
the old series to now, 30 years later, viewers will see that many
renovations have taken place," says Richard Berg, production designer
for the new TNT series, which premieres June 13 at 9 p.m. Eastern. "In
actuality, the interior of Southfork Ranch has never been shot. When the
first series was done, the actual ranch in Plano, outside of Dallas,
would get thousands of tourists a year. They would look inside the house
and see a museum about the show, but the show's interiors were always
shot on a sound stage."
Here's a look at today's Southfork sets, which were built on a sound stage in Dallas.
