Laura Gale House: Examples of Prairie Architecture

The Laura Gale House is another Wright-designed home in Oak Park, Ill. Built in 1909, the home falls within the boundaries of the Frank Lloyd Wright/Prairie School of Architecture Historic District, a residential neighborhood with more than 80 Wright-designed homes. One of Wright's more unusual designs, the Laura Gale House is made up of interlocking rectilinear forms surrounding a fireplace. The compact structure is considered one of his most successful small-house designs.
