Biscayne Boulevard's iconic Vagabond Motel is getting an extensive restoration by developer and historic preservationist Avra Jain. Her team is working overtime to complete the project in time to throw a swanky party during Art Basel Miami Beach in December. Historic design advocates hail the Vagabond as a prime example of 1950s and 1960s MiMo architectural design with characteristics like an open-air plan, jalousie windows and geometric designs.
The pool deck will have a pool bar in the location where one historically stood. In its glory days, the pool was one of the main gathering places and features of the property. Although it's hard to picture now, this area will be flanked by the glitterati as it plays host to star-studded clientele during Art Basel Miami Beach.
