Hayes Mansion: Examples of Mediterranean Architecture

Built in 1905 by architect George Page, the Spanish Colonial revival-style Hayes Mansion in San Jose, Calif., has been referred to as one of the finest examples of late 19th-century architecture in the Santa Clara Valley. The villa was built in the form of a Maltese Cross, in which a large center section connects the north and south wings, while a loggia connects the east and west wings. The walls are double brick with a stucco coating.
