Ainsley House: Examples of Tudor Revival Architecture
Built in 1925, the Ainsley House is an example of the English Tudor
style architecture that gained popularity in the San Francisco Bay area
in the 1920s. Tudor Revival architecture is based on building
styles that were common in England from the late Medieval period to the
16th century. The historic Ainsley House, which is now a city-run
museum, incorporates influences from the Arts and Crafts Movement, also
of the 1920s. The house features wood paneling, prominent chimneys and
multi-paned bay windows.
