Asendorf House: Examples of Row House Architecture

The iconic Asendorf House, also known as the Gingerbread House, has been a mainstay in Savannah, Ga., since it was built by Cord Asendorf in 1889. Famed for its ornate wood trimming and decorations, this landmark is said to be one of the best examples of Steamboat Gothic architecture. Victorian style evolved from Gothic roots, and it spawned many other styles such as Gothic revival, Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne, stick style, Romanesque style and shingle style.
