Volunteers Repair 93-Year-Old Woman's Home in Fort Lauderdale

More than 20 volunteers from Rebuilding Together Broward helped fix up the home of the Jeanette Bennett.

Homeowner Jeanette Bennett moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1937 and has resided under the same roof for more than 50 years. 

Volunteers from Rebuilding Together Broward painted the exterior of the home, fixed a rotted ceiling on the patio, completed soffit repair, fixed a screen porch in the backyard and cleared away a rusted and broken fence. 

Now Jeanette can have her more than 30 great-grandchildren over for a visit without worrying about safety issues. 

The Rebuilding Together Broward task force is part of a new initiative to inspire young professionals to participate in improving the homes and lives of the elderly, veterans and low income homeowners
