Jake Gyllenhaal Goes House-Hunting in Soho
The actor reportedly scoped out a modern two-bedroom penthouse on Thompson Street.
Of the Gyllenhaal siblings, Maggie is usually the one who gets the spotlight when it comes to New York City real estate — she and husband Peter Sarsgaard made headlines when they decamped from the West Village to Park Slope seven years ago. Last week, though, the New York Post reported that brother Jake Gyllenhaal is house-hunting in Manhattan.
Unlike his sis, who bought an entire brownstone to accommodate her family of four with Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal was eying a more modest two-bedroom condo in Soho. The sunny $3.55 million penthouse has undergone $400,000 in renovations by architect Massoud Ghassem, and we like what we see. It's simple with flashes of statement, like marble surfaces in both bathrooms and the walnut walk-in closet. We love the built-in kitchen cabinetry underneath the staircase, as well as the reflective tile work above the living room fireplace. Of course, let's not forget the private roof deck built for "Hamptons-like entertainment," as the listing puts it.
