
The 14th annual City Crime Rankings: Crime in Metropolitan America, a report published by a privately owned publishing company called CQ Press, compared crimes in 378 cities to determine a list of the most dangerous and safest cities in the United States. The report compares rates of six crimes -- murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary and auto theft -- and assigns a score to each city, with a score of zero representing the national average. These homes are located in the 10 cities deemed safest in the country.
