1. Figure out how you're getting your car from here to there. If you'll be flying, arrange to have it shipped. If you need to tow it behind your rental truck, let the company know in advance.
   
   
2. Switch to a bank with a branch in your new town. You'll need easy access to your money for closing costs, security deposits, and/or movers. By doing this ahead of time, you'll avoid having your money in transit while you are.
   
   
3. Arrange for storage. You'll need it if you're moving to a smaller place or if there's a gap between moving dates.
   
   
4. Order labels with your new address. It'll make address changes easier down the road.
