Million-Dollar Home in Atlanta’s Historic Brookhaven
What the home may lack in size is made up for in neighborhood amenities.
If you have a lust for country club life, we have the perfect Buckhead home for you. Located on a tree-lined quiet cul-de-sac in historic Brookhaven, we think the 2,900-square-foot home is perfect for an athletic family or active empty nesters. Modeled after a French Provincial country house, the house borders the Capital City Country Club, which has an 18-hole golf course, 11 clay tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a spa and an opulent ballroom. The tennis and swim teams are well known in Atlanta for their competitive (and sometimes championship) play.

We especially like the club's screened-in lodge-like patio with its huge fireplace and kid-free dining. And, we love the neighborhood’s proximity to great public and private schools, fabulous shopping at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, and the Windsor Parkway YMCA soccer fields, popular with all the best Atlanta soccer moms.
Built in 1986, the home itself is a fine example of exceptional and smart craftsmanship. Priced at just over the $1 million mark, you can certainly find a lot of larger homes in this range, but we think this home utilizes its space wisely. For example, the entryway is smaller and narrower than other similarly priced McMansions. The eat-in kitchen is large as that’s where the family usually gathers and there is an expansive marble-topped island for doing just that. The kitchen also has a new Sub-Zero fridge, a six-burner Viking stove and a breakfast nook.
The formal dining room seats 12, but is smaller than most homes at this price point and a fine use of space for our buck. The tastefully decorated living room has a vaulted ceiling and a large fireplace and French doors opening to the private garden. The garden featured a pond and a water fountain at one time and was on the Atlanta Botanical Gardens Connoisseurs Tour.
The master and en suite spa-like bath are located on the main floor and enjoy bay windows and plenty of natural light. Upstairs is an office with built-in cabinetry, a bonus room and three additional bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The home is located at 931 Club Station and there’s an open house this Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. It is currently listed with Beacham & Company Realtors.
