Midtown Penthouse in the Raw
Priced at less than $1 million, this blank canvas is waiting for the right buyer to give the views of the Atlanta skyline the interior it deserves.True penthouse apartments are rare in Atlanta; it’s a logistics thing. Buildings only get one top floor unless you're Willy Wonka. Finding one in the raw may be even rarer, but we found a diamond in the rough lurking high above the clouds in Midtown. Located at 1280 West Peachtree, the 6,743-square-foot unfinished space is currently listed at $965K or $143 per square foot. Built in 1989 and standing in at 410 feet tall, 1280 West was once the tallest residential building in the city and held that title for close to 10 years. It was Park Avenue Condominiums that bested 1280 West by 76 feet, but that building was soon passed by Twelve Centennial Park, which measures 491 feet tall. Third place still medals, right?

While 1280 does have very similar conveniences and luxuries — a
pool, a tennis court, racquetball, a gym, a concierge, a 24-hour doorman, pool tables
and a theater — they're just over 20 years old. But you’re certainly not going
to get the same views at one of the newer and smaller properties. This place enjoys sweeping panoramas of Buckhead, Stone Mountain, downtown, the High Museum and
Atlantic Station. The location is an urbanite’s dream realized with easy access
to transportation, shopping and nightlife. It also comes with an unprecedented amount of parking spaces: five. So, if you aren’t an ageist when it
comes to your amenities but size and stature matter, this is a great deal. It is the penthouse after all.
Oh, and did we mention this very Aaron Sorkin-esque video that was put together for the joint? We half expected to see a shot of Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterston sharing a Scotch in the lobby or Olivia Munn stepping out of the pool. Oh, so now we got your attention?
