Roscoe Village: $499K

Trivia: For 15 years, host of the annual Chicago Ribfest. Located at 2007 West Addison Street, this 3-bed, 2.5-bath grabbed us by the lapels with two specs (well, three): The two-story, 2,400-square-foot duplex has a deck off the kitchen and one off the master bedroom. Toss in garage parking. Nice. Keep in mind: $500K in the city spreads thinner than in the boonies. But vigilance pays. Although the average listing price in the North Center area is $589,728 – with the Roscoe Village neighborhood just over $535,000 – the current median sales price of $340,000 is a 29-percent drop from 2012. Fluctuations like these mean a deal could knock you on the head.  Listed by Robin Miner of @properties. Ask: $499,900. Perk: 9/10 rated Audubon School District.
