Buy the Atlanta House Featured in The Odd Life of Timothy Green

Priced approximately $1 million below its last appraisal, this historic Victorian home could be the steal of the century.

Update: The price of this treasure was reduced to the ridiculously low price of $495,000 and is now listed as a short sale, according to the MLS.

About 35 miles south of Atlanta sits the quiet little town of Newnan, the county seat of Coweta County. The town has six historic districts, all on the National Register of Historic Places, and is where some of Georgia’s loveliest homes and most-unique commercial buildings are found.

On the market is an 1840 Victorian that was recently approved for a short sale. The home at 155 Greenville Street is now listed at $599K, approximately $1 million below the last appraisal, according to the listing agent.

Disney fans may recognize the home as the Crudstaff Mansion & Pencil Museum from the 2012 movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green starring Jennifer Garner. The house was also featured as one of the country's top five Victorians by The Week magazine.

In the mid '80s the mansion was restored abiding by strict historic standards, restoring or utilizing all plaster walls, push-button light controls and even old-school pull-chain commodes. The designer chose Bradbury & Bradbury custom wallpaper and elaborate crown moldings that accentuate the home’s 13-foot-high ceilings and grand staircase. Each room on the first floor consists of different wood: bird's-eye maple in the gentleman’s parlor, walnut in the ladies' parlor, mahogany in the master suite and cherry in the dining room. In 2008 the kitchen was completely gutted and now boasts Thermador appliances, custom cabinetry, and granite and marble countertops.

While the town may be small, a Hollywood film crew is not the only excitement it has seen. The Coweta County courthouse lives in infamy as the site of the murder trial of wealthy landowner John Wallace, immortalized in the book Murder In Coweta County by Margaret Ann Barnes. The book was also made into a television movie starring Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith.
