Blue Jay Way House Won’t “Be Long” on the Market
There’s a luxury home for sale in the Hollywood Hills on the street made famous in the song by the Beatles’ George Harrison.
How would you like to live on a street so unique the Beatles recorded an entire song about it? That is indeed possible, now that a midcentury modern house on legendary Blue Jay Way in the Hollywood Hills is up for sale.
Once you hear them, it's impossible to forget the haunting lyrics:
“There’s a fog upon L.A.
And my friends have lost their way.
They’ll be over soon they said,
Now they’ve lost themselves instead.”
Apparently in 1967 George Harrison rented a house much like this one and was waiting for his buddy, rock journalist Derek Taylor, to arrive before he went to bed. But Taylor, like many others at that time, got lost on the winding roads leading to what’s known as the Bird Streets, coveted for their views of the Sunset Strip, downtown L.A. and even the ocean. And when fog sets in? Forget about it.
That’s not much of a problem these days with GPS what it is. This house, built in 1963 but updated since, is on the market for $5.695 million, but many think the view and notoriety are priceless.
In addition to magnificent vistas, you get four bedrooms and four baths, in 3,968 square feet of space. The lot is about 9,945 square feet, perched right on the hillside.
