Waterfront Wednesday: Tour Blog Cabin 2013!

Set on North Carolina's stunning Crystal Coast, Blog Cabin 2013's double glass doors and windows capitalize on water views and capture abundant sunlight.

We’re doing something a little different for this week’s Waterfront Wednesday – instead of touring a home you could buy, we’re touring a home you could win: DIY Blog Cabin 2013!

Nestled on three acres of waterfront property on North Carolina’s stunning Crystal Coast, this circa-1892 cottage was completely reconstructed to create an inviting, Southern-style retreat. Standing 2-1/2 feet taller than the original structure, the home is placed on a sturdy masonry foundation, while its dock was rebuilt to withstand storms. Inside, the home’s color palette captures the hues of the surrounding sea, sky and sand.

We’ve picked out a few of our favorite spaces below, but be sure to check out the virtual tour to explore each and every room of this gorgeous coastal getaway. Starting July 29, you can enter twice online per day — once on DIYNetwork.com and once on HGTVRemodels.com – for your chance to win Blog Cabin 2013! In the meantime, sign up for sweeps entry reminders.

Light streams into Blog Cabin 2013's sunroom via casement windows that offer views of Core Sound as well as the front yard and east entry.

Sunroom: We’d love to curl up with a good book or take a snooze in this cozy nook, located just off the east entry. The distressed wood on the ceiling was reclaimed from the property’s old dock – how cool is that? Tour the Sunroom >>

Designed to resemble an outdoor shower, Blog Cabin 2013's master bathroom pairs luxurious spa-like fixtures with gracious forms.

Master Bathroom: Can we say spa-ahhh? The master bathroom was designed to resemble an outdoor shower, but its luxe materials – including glazed porcelain tiles and Ipe wood – make it even better. Tour the Master Bathroom >>

Stainless steel cable, topped with durable Ipe wood railing, borders Blog Cabin 2013's second-floor lookout, where a vintage telescope provides zoomed-in views of nature.

Balcony: Get a load of those views! A vintage telescope lets you zoom in on the fantastic scenery. Tour the Balcony >>

The grilling area, clad in a permeable cobblestone paver system, features a shade structure inspired by the design of Blog Cabin 2013.
