Tour B.D. Wong's NYC Home, Which Just Found a Buyer

The Law & Order: SVU actor used his vintage sensibilities while renovating his subterranean three-bedroom East Village duplex.

Actor B.D. Wong loves to hoard vintage artifacts. His hobby came in handy while renovating his three-bedroom East Village duplex. The home is filled with salvaged architectural details.

Celebrity homes tend to be glossy, sunny, hyper-designed affairs, which is why Law & Order: SVU actor B.D. Wong's East Village duplex is so refreshing. The 2,950-square-foot co-op is dark, crammed and eclectic, but all in the very best ways. "I'm basically nocturnal," Wong admitted to The New York Times in a 2012 house profile. "This is not the place for a daylight queen." Recently on the market for $3,250,000, the three-bedroom home just went into contract.

Wong bought the place in 2005 for $1.25 million and, together with architect Jack Wettling, spent seven years renovating the home in phases. The eclectic architecture that you see now was born out of a "struggle to control my surroundings as opposed to my surroundings controlling me," Wong told the Times, offering lots of fun details about his home and general aesthetic. As you can tell from photos, he's a big fan of vintage and apparently a consummate collector of everything from yarn and yardsticks to 19th-century clocks. Check out our gallery below.
