Tour 10 Gorgeous Homes in New York City

NYCTOUR - 14th St_1

Photo by: Eric Laignel This 2,000-square-foot loft apartment is one of 10 homes on the City Modern tour. Architect Joe Tanney built the light-filled home for a five-person family.

We could spend all day ogling gorgeous homes online, but it's never the same as visiting them in person. Which is why we're excited for the 2nd annual City Modern (Sept. 27 to Oct. 4), hosted by Dwell Media and New York magazine. The week-long extravaganza offers a lineup of design-focused events, but the best part is the tour of Manhattan and Brooklyn dwellings.

Ten homes (five in each borough) will be open to ticket-holders. Bask in the sunlit solarium of a 14th Street loft. Admire the textured finishes at the Flavor Paper Pad, a live/work space for the owner of the Flavor Paper wallpaper company. Maybe you can even take a ride down the four-story stainless steel slide in the Skyhouse. Whether you're looking for design ideas or are just curious to explore some amazing homes, this is the event for you. If you want a peek at what a tour ticket will buy you, peruse our gallery below.

Besides the tours, City Modern also offers a series of panel discussions including "Creativity and Constraint with Jonathan Adler" and "What Design Can Do for New York City," featuring MoMA's Paola Antonelli, architect Deborah Berke and architecture critic Justin Davidson.

Visit www.citymodern.com for more information. Tickets are $108 for the Brooklyn tour and $130 for the Manhattan tour.
