Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger finalized a deal to purchase the 105-room Raleigh Hotel from prior owners, David Edelstein and Sam Nazarian. Hilfiger plans to stay true to the 1940s design and history of the hotel. Located on Collins Avenue on South Beach, the art deco-style hotel was built in 1940 by Miami architect, L. Murray Dixon. "The Raleigh Hotel is a true Miami Beach treasure with sophistication and style, making it the perfect property for us," Hilfiger said in a statement announcing the deal.

The largest collection in the world of art deco architecture sits on the shores of South Beach and Miami Beach’s Art Deco District is the youngest community to ever make the National Register of Historic Places. Structures along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue are some of the most photographed boutique hotels in the world, including the ones showcased in movies like Scarface.
