Tom Cruise Eyeing Mel Gibson's Former Estate
Following his split from actress Katie Holmes, Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise is shopping around for a new home in the Tri-State area where he can spend time with daughter Suri. According to New York Daily News, the actor recently scoped out Old Mill Farm, a 75-acre property in Greenwich once owned by Oscar winner Mel Gibson.Location: Greenwich, Conn.
Listed By: Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby's International Realty
Built in 1926 by noted architect Charles Lewis Bowman, the Tudor-style mansion offers more than 15,000 square feet of living space, including 15 bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms and seven partial baths. But no room exemplifies the home's grandeur better than the great hall -- a monumental space with 40-foot cathedral ceilings, leaded windows, 17th-century wood paneling and a walk-in fireplace.
While Cruise is still searching for the perfect property, Old Mill Farm reportedly impressed him with its ultra-secluded setting at the end of a private driveway. For six-year-old Suri, we bet the home's most appealing feature would be its picturesque grounds -- complete with a terraced pool, a hedge maze, a tennis court and a stable.
