Take an Airstream Vacation, Wake Up in 1967
If you’re looking for a road trippy vacation experience this summer, Kate Pierson's Lazy Meadow is the spot for you.

Kate's Lazy Desert is an Airstream Hotel in the desert town of Landers, Calif., which is about an hour east of Big Bear Lake. It is owned by award-winning hotel mavens Kate Pierson of the B-52s and her partner, Monica Coleman.
Okay, we’re attracted to shiny things, especially groovy midcentury Airstream motor homes. Sometimes late at night we fantasize about packing one up and venturing out across America, but then reality sets in and we turn off eBay and go to bed. Then our dreams turn all
with cocktail hour in our fabulously hip
in our polyester best. Inevitably, we awake and it’s 2014.
Thanks to B52's lead singer Kate Pierson, we can experience trailer life without ending up stranded on the side of the road, and have as many Manhattans as we want and collapse onto a shag rug in front of a midcentury
The Rock Lobster queen and her partner Monica Coleman run two
retreats, one in Upstate New York and the other in the High Desert about an hour outside of Big Bear Lake in California. The desert location is made up of six renovated and decorated
Airstreams, while the New York Catskills location has nine suites and three other standalone properties located nearby. The newest location, the Lazy Lodge, is located on the beautiful Woodland Valley Stream in Phoenicia about five miles away.
Lazy Meadow has become a destination favorite of some of the coolest rock
including David Byrne of the Talking Heads, artist and filmmaker Cindy Sherman, rock icons Debbie Harry and Cindy Lauper, and SIA just to name a few.
Designed by the folks who brought you "Love Shack," the interiors of all reflect the wacky and colorful midcentury style of Pierson, and no two are the same. For example, the “Hairstream” is decorated in old B52's memorabilia and photographs, or check in to the “Planet Air.”

Kate's Lazy Meadow is the award-winning hotel created by Kate Pierson of the B-52s and her partner, Monica Coleman. Kate's Lazy Meadow is located in Mount Tremper, N.Y., near Woodstock in the Catskill Mountains and is made up of nine atomically designed, midcentury modern suites that sit directly on the Esopus Creek.
Back in New York, the Lazy Lodge has all the ring-a-ding-ding cocktail style you could ever want. We love the cool midcentury vibe and the open kitchen with its barstools and retro chandelier. Down the road just a bit is the Mink Hollow Lazy Cabin, which sleeps six and is located near Woodstock and the Bearsville Theatre. Mink Hollow is the most
cabin of the bunch with more of a lodge feel to it. It’s decorated in an Indian motif, has a stone hearth fireplace and a piano for late night Shiny Happy sing-alongs.
You may also notice a gnome theme going on as well.
“I heard they were good luck and started collecting them and started putting them all over the property,” said Pierson. “I got a little out of control.”
The result: Coleman put Pierson on gnome restriction.
The atmosphere of all the Lazy properties is decidedly unpretentious and laid back. If you’re brave enough to take the
Dirty Back Roads, come as you are, but don’t expect room service or a wake-up call from those far-out dreams because Lazy Meadow makes them reality and every year is the
Summer of Love.
