Striking Home in Hip Downtown Austin

Today marks the start of South by Southwest, a series of film, music and interactive media festivals and conferences held each year in the laid-back city of Austin, Texas. With SXSW on our minds, we found a home set just steps from all the action in Austin's trendy downtown.

Built in 1900, the stately, almost sculptural residence is set at the corner of 7th Street and Rio Grande -- walking distance from all downtown Austin has to offer. A long walkway leads to the front door and main living area, where we find a funky brick fireplace, wood-paneled walls and beamed ceilings. Other architectural delights can be found throughout the 3,173-square-foot home, from lovely hardwood floors to large, multi-pane windows.

Perhaps the best feature of this cool Austin crib? The expansive views of the Austin skyline. Browse the photo gallery to decide for yourself.
