Still for Sale? Magician Penn Jillette's $2.1 Million 'Slammer' House
The other half of illusionist team Penn & Teller has the documentary "Tim's Vermeer" in theaters and a house befitting a big imagination.
The booming personality of conjurer Penn Jillette has been making the festival rounds with his documentary darling Tim's Vermeer, a fascinating artistic how-dunnit that follows the theory of Tim Jenison, an inventor obsessed with unraveling (and duplicating) the mystery of how Dutch master Johannes Vermeer made his famous 17th-century paintings so, well, photo-realistic. The silent half, his partner Teller, directed the film.
But we're wondering about Jillette's Vegas custom creation. A 7,982-square-foot home with the moniker "Slammer" that he told USA Today was the product of a 12-year-old with a lot of dough. Listed at $2.1 million, the veteran magic man hasn't made the prison-themed 9-bed, 7-bath disappear. Besides the out-sized humor of the on-again-off-again listing, the house has true modern appeal, mountain views, a 14-seat home theater, high-tech security system (of course!) and tasteful interiors.
