Spanish-Style Home of Artist Miriam Wosk for Sale
Like her vibrant paintings and mixed-media collages, late artist Miriam Wosk's home in Santa Monica is colorful, creative and complex -- and it's now on the market for $12.5 million.
Location: Santa Monica, Calif.
Listed By: Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency
After purchasing the Spanish-style villa in 1998, Wosk worked with architect Steven Ehrlich to revamp and expand the home while preserving its original character. The artist and architect weren't afraid to experiment with a wide variety of materials throughout the residence, including colored concretes and stuccos, stainless steel, galvanized steel and ceramics.
Possibly the most notable addition is the studio wing -- a modern, sun-drenched space where Wosk stored the crystals, shells, vintage wallpapers and other found objects she used in her collages. The artist passed away in 2010, but many of her works can still be seen in the studio.
Outside, the property features a pool, a one-bedroom guesthouse and a patio in aqua-pigmented poured concrete.
