Shoe Designer Vince Camuto’s Historic Hamptons Estate for Sale
Today’s cool house landed on our radar for two reasons: One, it’s owned by shoe designer Vince Camuto, who co-founded the Nine West brand in 1978. Second, this historic estate – built in 1900 for Dr. Peter Wyckoff – was “one of the grandest original summer colony residences,” according to the listing. Let’s tour the home and see for ourselves, shall we?

In 1928, Dr. Wyckoff sold the estate to Jessie Woolworth Donahue – the daughter of Woolworth's founder F.W. Woolworth – who then sold it to Edmund Lynch of Merrill Lynch. After Lynch’s death, the main house, sadly, was demolished in 1941. The 10,000-square-foot Tudor-style mansion that stands today started out – amazingly – as the property’s poolhouse. Renovated and expanded over the years, the residence now features 7 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, while the grounds offer formal gardens, a tennis court, a pool and – of course – a new poolhouse.
Stepping inside, the home’s vaulted ceilings paired with French mantel fireplaces and elegant furnishings strike the perfect balance between airiness and grandeur. Camuto and his wife, Louise, honored the property’s past while updating it with modern amenities and sophisticated technology and security systems.
