Renee Zellweger Lists Connecticut Country Home For $1.6 Million

The Oscar-winning actress is selling her charming and very private Colonial-Federal farmhouse, which sits on 38 acres.

Photo by: Zillow Renee Zellweger's 1770 Colonial-Federal farmhouse is 3,500 square feet and sits on 38 acres. Purchased and updated by Zellweger in 2004, the home has a modern country interior that retains its original period charm. The grounds, which border a serene river and open meadows, include a pool, guest cottage and recreation barn.

Last week we mentioned that Ivan Lendl was selling his sprawling horse property in Connecticut. This week we bring news of another celebrity offloading their Connecticut home. This time it's actress Renee Zellweger, who has listed her Pomfret Center, Conn., country home for $1.6 million.

The 1770 Colonial-Federal farmhouse, which Zellweger bought and updated in 2004, sits on 38 acres and offers 3,000 feet of serene frontage along the Quinebaug River. The listing doesn't mention the number of bedrooms or bathrooms, but with 3,500 square feet one can assume there are at least several of each. We do know that the home includes loads of original details, seven fireplaces, an updated kitchen with granite counters and fancy appliances, and a family room with a bread oven (!).

The home is surrounded by open fields, including swaths of conserved land — which makes it a perfect retreat for evasive celebrities or anyone else seeking privacy. The property is attractively landscaped, made even more picturesque by the stone wall and hand-hewn post-and-rail fence. The grounds include an in-ground swimming pool, guest cottage and a spacious recreation barn — all of which were renovated in the 2004 makeover.

This isn't the first time Zellweger has tried to sell the home. She also listed it back in 2011 for $1.5 million.
