Reese Witherspoon's Ojai RetreatBorn in New Orleans and raised in Nashville, Reese Witherspoon found a piece of home when she purchased this bucolic seven-acre ranch in Ojai, Calif. Featured in Elle Décor in September 2012, the Walk the Line star's country estate is now on the market for $10 million.
Owned By: Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon
Listed By: Prudential California Realty
One of the earliest works of architect-to-the-stars Wallace Neff, the home was originally built in 1923 for glassware magnate Edward Libbey. Besides Witherspoon, the property's noteworthy previous owners include Ghostbusters director Harold Ramis and designer Kathryn M. Ireland.
The A-lister added her personal touches to the four-bedroom main house, though she was careful to preserve its historic character. "When you buy a beautiful piece of art, you don't really own it. You're just the caretaker," she told Elle Décor. With the help of designer Kristen Buckingham, the actress complemented the home's century-old hardware, original stonework and Spanish tiles with European antiques and rustic accessories.
Landscape designer Jay Griffith added a new gravel driveway and courtyard to the grounds, which also feature a swimming pool, a barn, horse stables and three guest cottages. Witherspoon and her second husband, talent agent Jim Toth, were married on the picturesque property in March 2011. What do you think of the star's California ranch?
