Michael Jordan's Ex-Wife Slashes Price on Luxe Chicago Penthouse
How's this for a rebound? Juanita Jordan is teasing the market and looking for buyers with a jaw-dropping $300,000 price cut on the former couple's outrageously huge high-rise unit.
Remember that not-quite-championship display last fall when the big auction date for Michael Jordan's $29 million, 9-bedroom, 15-bath Highland Park estate ended in confusion and a total of zero offers? It took team Jordan two attempts to realize the sticker price was a scary non-starter. So they hacked it to $16 million. (It's still on the market.)
Now Juanita Jordan, a real estate broker and recipient of the 2007 record-breaking $168 million divorce settlement, took a page from the no-sale playbook and axed $300,000 off the April 2013 list price of the colossal 8,000-square-foot Lake Shore Drive penthouse. (Michael Jordan, a little bloody from the divorce wars, had his current love Yvette Prieto sign a pre-nup to barricade his $650 million fortune.)

The three-level, 4-bed, 5.5-bath triplex is on a full floor, at the top of the 40-story building in some prime Chicago Gold Coast terrain. Expect VIP privacy, with (yes!) spectacular Lake Michigan views from every perch. Property taxes ring a $34,245 bell every year. The bling's not all hype: There's four wet bars, a fluid open floor plan, a solarium and superior millwork for the craftsmanship-conscious.
Chicago celebs need to score better on real estate. Oprah listed her Magnificent Mile custom Water Tower condo for $7.75 million, and the estate of the late director John Hughes (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) smacked the price of his Lake Forest home by $885,000 to under $5 million hoping for a sale. The Jordan condo cuts are in the same league, speculating a tweaked $4 million tag will bring new suitors. After almost a year on the market, it's a smart move.
