Los Angeles Estate Built for Actor Bert Lahr
Today's cool house boasts an impressive list of famous former residents. Built in 1941 for actor Bert Lahr -- best known for his role as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz -- the home has also been owned by actress Betty Grable, trumpet player Harry James and music legend Paul McCartney.
Location: Beverly Hills, Calif.

Shortly after he finished filming The Wizard of Oz, Lahr hired architect Paul R. Williams to build a home with a graceful entry stairway, wood-paneled walls and a cozy stone fireplace. While the residence has been renovated extensively throughout the years, some of the original details remain intact.
Tucked behind a stately stone wall, the home is practically made for entertaining a large host of guests -- famous or otherwise. A few notable features include a media room with a wet bar, a wine cellar and a two-lane, vintage-inspired bowling alley. Outside, there's a kitchen, a pool, a tennis court, a putting green and a guesthouse with a private entrance.
