Live in the Home of Hollywood Legends
It was Bela Lugosi’s haunt and Ava Gardner and Frank Sinatra’s love nest. Now, it’s received a complete Hollywood makeover and is on the market for millions.
This luxurious view home in the Hollywood Hills was Bela Lugosi’s favorite haunt when he bought it in the '30s. It was the first home of Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner when they moved in together in the '50s. None of these Hollywood classics would recognize it today, however, because, like almost everything else of a certain age in Los Angeles, it’s received a top-to-bottom
makeover, after which the current owners put it on the market for $4.950 million.

The views of the sparkling city and the stars in the sky are only rivaled by the views of neighborhood stars like Ben Affleck, Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, Ben Stiller, Marilu Henner, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy, who have all called this point of the Hollywood Hills home.
The house was originally built in 1931 in glamorous Outpost Estates, a neighborhood that has been favored by Hollywood headliners for decades. More recently,
celebrities like Ben Affleck,
Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, Ben Stiller, Marilu Henner, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy have called the area home.
But the stars of yore probably wouldn’t recognize this particular home as it stands today. It was purchased in 2012 for $1.550 million, when its best remaining feature was the spectacular view. Like most octogenarians, it was showing signs of age, and needed some work to bring it back to it’s full former glory. But unlike most octogenarians, the villa is now probably better than ever.

While the residence has only four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, which is fairly conservative for a Hollywood luxury home, spaces like this great room are generous, and total 4,200 square feet of interior space.
It still maintains its discreet,
Old World hacienda feeling when approached from the street, and once inside the secure main gate, you’ll find a private, tranquil courtyard with a fountain and sitting area. But step through the front door, and you'll feel as if you’ve entered a whole ‘nother century.
High-tech appliances, Nest climate control and integrated, state-of-the-art security and sound systems have been added, of course. But other elegant,
modern touches include floor-to-ceiling Fleetwood sliding pocket doors that seamlessly integrate indoor and out, where an infinity pool sparkles. Up-to-the-minute gray-stained French oak flooring runs throughout the house.
Size-wise, the home is large but not gigantic. The residence measures about 4,200 square feet and sits on a sloped, .27-acre lot. There are four
bedrooms, including a master suite with amazing
views and a terrace to enjoy them, as well as 3.5
bathrooms. There’s a self-contained guest suite on the lowest of this three-level home, with independent access, for the mother-in-law or the perpetual Hollywood hanger on.
Realtor Joe Babajian, who has counted among his clients luminaries such as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, Hollywood executives, Barbra Streisand, Ryan Seacrest, Janet Jackson and the Osbourne family, says this is one of his favorites. “After 25 years working in
luxury real estate, the Los Angeles market continues to thrive,” he says. “I’m fortunate to show such an elegant and beautiful home, and I know the buyers will appreciate the grandeur of it.”
