John Mayer Sells Soho Condo for $3.91 Million
The singer-songwriter originally bought the two-bedroom apartment for $2.17 million.
Singer-songwriter John Mayer recently sold his Soho apartment — and made a pretty handsome profit, according to The Real Deal. The Grammy-winning musician bought the 12th-floor apartment back in 2005 for $2.17 million. He listed it last October for $3.89 million and ended up selling it for the slightly higher price of $3.91 million. That's not too shabby of a profit.
The Soho pad is surprisingly modest as far as celebrity pads go. At 2,063 square feet, it has two bedrooms, two baths and an office — or more like one bedroom and a master bedroom wing, which includes the office, bath and walk-in closet. We imagine Mayer was drawn to the home for its abundance of light: As a corner unit, the apartment is filled with natural light, especially in the open-plan living room, dining and kitchen area. It also offers great views through the 15 "massive windows." The building itself — a 1924 Beaux Art structure at 225 Lafayette Street — comes with a high pedigree, as Dakota Fanning and Theodora Richards reportedly live there.
Mayer offloaded a Los Angeles home back in 2010 — as you can see, that place had a lot more color to it, literally — and since March of 2012, he's owned a Montana log-and-stone cabin with its own recording studio and gym.
