It's a Wonderful House: Inside Film Director Frank Capra's Former Home

Located in the resort community of La Quinta, Calif., today's cool house was once owned by film director Frank Capra, best known his work on the Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life.

Location: La Quinta, Calif.
Listed By: Jennie Robinson of Windermere Real Estate
Price: $1,575,000

Built in 1960 by Los Angeles-based architect A. Quincy Jones, the home opens to a spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, beamed ceilings, a rock fireplace and a sunken wet bar. Past that, there's a remodeled gourmet kitchen, a family room with a media center and three bedrooms, each with its own bath. Capra purchased the home in 1961 -- shortly after retiring from the film industry -- and lived there until his death in 1991 at age 94.

Step outside, and you'll find yourself on a private patio overlooking a pool, distant mountains and the lush, green fairways of the La Quinta Country Club. Sounds like a pretty wonderful life to us.
