Historic North Mansion in Jackson, Mich.
Today’s stately home was built in the 1920s by a prominent Jackson family: the Norths, whose North Construction Company constructed many of the buildings found throughout the area today.

The grand three-story residence sits on a professionally landscaped lot with a grape arbor and two fountains. Inside, the home is teeming with gorgeous architectural details, including coffered ceilings, wood floors, plastered walls, crown molding and picture rails. The sunroom even boasts a stone floor reclaimed from St. Mary Catholic Church – a North Construction Co. work site.
The kitchen was remodeled in 2007 with cherry cabinets, stainless appliances and quartz countertops, yet current owners Mischa Taylor and Earl Brown have worked to preserve the home’s original charm. “No matter how long we’ve lived here, we really try to maintain the character and everything that goes along with the house,” Brown told MLive.com.
