Hip Northwest Modern Home
We're developing a bit of an obsession with Northwest modern architecture here at Cool Houses Daily. Two weeks ago, we took you inside an inviting mod residence west of Seattle on Bainbridge Island. Shifting east of the Emerald City, here's another one we love: a 1969 waterfront home located in the lakefront town of Hunts Point.
Location: Hunts Point, Wash.
Listed By: Rondi Egenes of Windermere Real Estate/East, Inc.
Though it was just remodeled in 2006, we're pleased to say the home's funky '60s vibe was well preserved. The front door leads to an open, atrium-style living area, flooded with light via floor-to-ceiling windows and an enormous skylight, which runs the entire length of the residence. Typical of Northwest modern architecture, the home's interior is wrapped in natural materials -- clear cedar walls and slate floors -- creating a connection with its serene surroundings.
Best of all, nearly every room overlooks a stunning landscape of Lake Washington and the distant Olympic Mountains. The glass-enclosed dining room has to be our favorite space in this funky waterfront retreat. What's yours?
