Find Your Island Home on Key Biscayne

There's something spectacular about this luxurious little island community. It's only seven miles from downtown Miami, but feels a world away.

Photo by: Kara Franker Originally a coconut plantation, Key Biscayne was developed as a residential community in 1947. Starting in 1951, the Mackle Construction Company offered new homes on the island for just under $10k and only $500 down. Today homes on the island are listed in the multi-millions.

If you criss-cross the Rickenbacker causeway just south of Brickell, Miami's bourgeoning financial district, you'll find yourself rolling down the windows to breathe in a little salty air. The pace slows down and now you're on island time. However, this isn't your average tropical island. It's home to some of the most beautiful waterfront homes you can imagine. We found a few of our favorites and put together a slideshow for you.
