Converted Church in Kansas

Photo by: Zillow A two-story great room trimmed in rich woodwork makes a dramatic first impression in this converted church in Wichita. A massive doorway with folding doors leads to the sanctuary-turned-home-theater.

We’ve seen converted barns, concert halls, firehouses and more on Cool Houses Daily – today, we’re checking out our first converted church. Dating back to 1911, this former church in Wichita has been completely rebuilt inside and out for residential or commercial use.

We were glad to see the stunning stained-glass windows still intact throughout the building – not to mention the gleaming wood floors and trim that accentuate their vibrant colors even further.

From the impressive two-story great room, a massive doorway with folding doors leads to the church’s sanctuary, which has been transformed into a home theater “better quality than any commercial theater in Wichita,” according to the listing. The space still features the original pews and pulpit, plus a 12x9 screen and a Lumina projector. Check out the photo gallery to see for yourself.
