Celebrities Share Their Green Tips for the Home
At Global Green USA’s pre-Oscar bash, we asked stars like Joan Rivers, Malin Akerman and Luke Perry how they do their part to help the environment, starting at home.
At the recent Global Green USA pre-Oscar party, Hollywood’s eco-friendly celebrities marked the organization’s 20th anniversary with live music, a plant-based dinner and an exclusive auction. The “zero-waste” event raised more than $20,000 and generated awareness for Global Green’s ongoing initiatives, which include greening affordable housing, neighborhoods and cities as well as rebuilding communities – such as New Orleans and areas of New York and New Jersey – that have suffered from the impacts of climate change, sea level rise and environmental degradation.
Many green-minded stars like Malin Akerman, Luke Perry and Joan Rivers were in attendance. We caught up with them to find out what they’ve done to make their homes more eco-friendly.
Comedian Joan Rivers tries to reduce her carbon footprint as much as possible. “I do everything I can! We try not to use plastic bottles, and we try to recycle everything. I even pull television plugs out when we aren’t using them. I’m really crazy about things like that,” she said.
