Cassie Chapman, one of the stars of the TNT reality series Private Lives of Nashville Wives, is in love with every room of her lavish Tennessee home. Married to Christian music singer-songwriter Gary Chapman, the couple just expanded their family by adopting a beautiful daughter. We asked Cassie where the trio likes to spend quality time in their Music City abode. (In case you missed it, also check out our interview with Private Lives of Nashville Wives star Jenny Terrell.)

What do you love about your home?

The entryway is stunning! The iron doors were designed specifically for the home. When you walk through those doors, you walk straight into this great room with 28-foot, custom-built windows. The idea was to bring the outside in, which definitely became the reality.

What’s your favorite room in your home?

I don’t know how to choose my favorite room! Each room holds a special memory for me. I love the kitchen. This is the place where my family and friends gather most of the time. We love to cook and have family meals together almost every night. Nothing trumps spending time with the ones you love.

My second favorite room is the library.  It is two stories and full of books of all kinds. The room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a spiral staircase to take you to the books. The library is a wealth of knowledge, and I’m a sponge when it comes to learning. Technology is great, but there is nothing like turning the pages of a book. The sun sets on that side of the house, and snuggling up with a good book on the recliner while watching the sun go down is a little bit of heaven. The bottom level is my husband Gary’s office.

What’s your favorite feature in the room?

I love the size of the kitchen and having space to prepare and cook meals. I’m also a closet hoarder with dishes – it runs deep in my family! So we have tons of cabinet space. We have this Italian marble farmers sink that has intricate carvings of the fleur-de-lis that I just absolutely adore. The island has a gas stove top and, of course, plenty of seating.

The infinity-edge pool is the perfect place to admire the home’s wooded surroundings. “Nashville is just so gorgeous – our house is surrounded by 100-year-old walnut trees and all the critters that live in our woods, and it’s lovely!” Cassie says.

What drew you to your home?

Gary designed and built this house. While he did have help from a draftsman, structural engineer, and sub contractors, he was very hands on throughout the process.  Building a house was something he always wanted to do. He wanted to live in a house that he put his heart into, rather than purchasing someone else’s vision. We live on a pretty nice size piece of land. Nashville is just so gorgeous – our house is surrounded by 100-year-old walnut trees and all the critters that live in our woods, and it’s lovely!

What are some must-have essentials in your home?

One of the essentials for Walnut Hill estate is our fabulous garden we plant every year. We also have to have a ton of salt for our saltwater pool. I definitely get my exercise in on salt day. Inside the house, we have a fantastic vacuum cleaner, an Oreck, which does really well with picking up pet hair.

Do you like to garden?

I learned at a very young age how to garden and I want to keep that tradition alive, especially for my daughter, Eva Rose. When you can walk outside to your plush garden, pick a tomato off the vine and eat it right then and there, that is living!

We most definitely garden. I learned at a very young age how to garden and I want to keep that tradition alive, especially for my daughter, Eva Rose.  When you can walk outside to your plush garden, pick a tomato off the vine and eat it right then and there, that is living! Being able to take baskets to your neighbors, full of fresh veggies, and share with them good, organic food is just the best.

What are some of your favorite colors, textures, fabrics?

My two favorite colors are blue and green. I do really love all kinds of fabrics. Right now I am obsessed with damask. I just love the way it lays and looks so regal. I’m also really into the Chantilly lace. It’s just so dainty and beautiful. Then, we go from royalty fabrics to peasant fabrics, because I use burlap all the time to decorate tables and/or gifts.

Where do you like to shop for home-related products?

Since I am the bargain shopper that I am, for interior decorating items, I am a T.J. Maxx and Southeastern Salvage type of gal.  For exterior, I shop at Ace or Home Depot. I do like to support local businesses, so for mulch and stone I will go to Stone Tree.  I love buying all my flowers at Moore & Moore.
