Al Capone's Former Miami Beach Home for Sale

Everyone needs a place to get away from it all from time to time -- even notorious Chicago gangster Al Capone. Today, we're taking a tour of Scarface's former waterfront compound on Palm Island, now on the market for $9.95 million.

Location: Miami Beach, Fla.
Listed By: Jorge Alonso of Douglas Elliman Florida
Price: $9,950,000

Facing 100 feet of water frontage, the property's main house was built in 1922 by Clarence Busch of the Anheuser-Busch dynasty. In 1928, Capone purchased the estate for just $40,000, adding a guesthouse, a cabana and a 30-by-60 foot swimming pool -- the largest in the area at the time it was installed. While most of us would spend our days lounging by the pool and soaking up the sun if we owned this property, we don't think Capone got much R&R here -- supposedly, it's where he planned Chicago's gruesome Valentine's Day Massacre.

Before listing the home, the current owners hired architect Luis Pons to restore it to its mob-era glory. As a result, many features of the residence look the same as they did when Capone lived here, from the brass fixtures to the black-and-gold art deco powder room.
