Agent Tip: English Country Estate With 138 Feet of Waterfront
A shout-out to Kristen Shapton of Ewing & Clark for this week's agent submission. Today, we're taking a look inside Heather Hill, a lovely sandstone mansion with 138 feet of frontage on Lake Steilacoom.
Location: Tacoma, Wash.
Listed By: Kristen Shapton of Ewing & Clark
Set on more than two hilly, heather-covered acres (hence the estate's name), the home was built in 1922 by noted Pacific Northwest architect Kirtland Cutter, whose other works include the Rainier Club in Seattle and the Davenport Hotel in Spokane.
Starting our tour outside, a stone bridge and circular driveway lead to the stately façade of the 6,317-square-foot residence. Sandstone terraces with outstanding lake views wrap the back side of the home, while an outdoor lounge with a fireplace and dining area can be found beneath the separate carriage house. Stroll past the mansion through the manicured lawns, and you'll find yourself on a pristine pebble beach flanked by a dock and a boathouse.
If you can tear yourself away from the outdoor living spaces, you won't be able to take your eyes off the architectural details inside the home: the herringbone oak floors in the living room, the hand-blocked wall coverings in the dining room and the restored antique cabinetry in the kitchen. Upstairs, spacious bedrooms suites are appointed with Juliet balconies, walk-in closets and updated bathrooms with marble tilework and imported fixtures. Don't miss the photo gallery below to see these spaces for yourself.
