Listen to live music at the Bluebird Café. This one’s a no-brainer: The itty bitty Bluebird Café – located just down the road from HGTV Smart Home 2014 in Green Hills – is where loads of big country stars like Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks got their start. Tour historic Belmont Mansion. There are a number of antebellum and historic homes open to the public in Nashville. Built in the style of an Italian villa and set amidst elaborate gardens, Belmont Mansion on the campus of Belmont University is the largest house museum in the city.

Savor the local fare. Several favorite Nashville establishments are located near HGTV Smart Home. Try sweet potato pancakes at the Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village, a gourmet burger and truffle fries at Burger Up in 12South or mouthwatering beef brisket at Martin’s BBQ Joint in Green Hills.

Grab a local cup of Joe. The Well Coffeehouse, whose profits help fight poverty in underprivileged areas, is just down the road from HGTV Smart Home in Green Hills. Also try other area favorites like Bongo Java, Frothy Monkey and Eighth and Roast.

And for dessert, try a gourmet popsicle. Las Paletas – just a short stroll from Burger Up – offers popsicles in unique flavors like hibiscus, avocado, chai and hot chocolate with chili. Or visit Hot & Cold in Hillsboro Village, where you can even get a popsicle dipped in Bongo Java coffee or topped with magic shell made from Olive & Sinclair chocolate.

Stock up on western garb. Katy K, a boutique in the 12South neighborhood, boasts room after room of new and vintage boots, cowboy hats, belt buckles and everything else you need to embrace your country side. You may even be able to pick up a piece of clothing worn by an actual country music star.

Browse unique shops at Hillsboro Village. Spread over a few short blocks of 21st Avenue South, Hillsboro Village is your stop for funky boutiques and specialty stores. Check out Davis Cookware for quality kitchen items, BookManBookWoman for new and gently used books and Pangaea for eclectic clothing and jewelry.

Take a stroll at Sevier Park. With an abundance of trails, green space, a playground, basketball and tennis courts, and the circa 1852 Sunnyside Mansion on site, Sevier Park is a great place to enjoy nature and history just a couple of miles from HGTV Smart Home. Once a year, there’s even a Sevier Park Street Fest, which brings together the Belmont/Hillsboro and 12South neighborhood communities to promote local talent and businesses.
